Selecting Proper Window Roman Blinds

There are many roman blind options at your disposal to choose from. While the choice you go for depends on your taste, it is important to consider the taste of others as well. For window roman blinds, go for makes and designs that will be appreciated by all the family members. You can choose from the following:

1. Drawpull. These have a cord that you use to move the blind, either to the left or to the right. The cord comes with a cleat that is fixed either on the window or wall and which the cord is tied on.

2. Bordered blinds. You can decide to have roman blinds with neat borders. The borders can be made all round the blind, along the vertical sides only. In most cases, the vertical border width measure between 2 and 5 cm while for the bottom between 5 and 20 cm deep. The border fabric used must be in contrast to that of the blind. You have the option of choosing your own colour.

3. Band. This resembles the border, the only difference being that a band of different colour and fabric from that of the blind is fixed running across the blind. The band is fixed mostly at the bottom in width of 20 cm. It is fixed about 15 cm from the bottom edge.

4. ZigZag. You can have the bottom of your blind in a zigzag design to enhance its look. This can be in the same colour and fabric as the blind or in a different colour and fabric. The zigzag width is usually 3 to 5 cm.

5. Eyelet bottom blind. You can have the bottom of your blind made with eyelets to let in some amount of light when in use. The eyelets do measure 4 cm in diameter and start at about 5 cm from the edge of the bottom. Eyelets punched appropriately at the bottom of a blind create a beautiful look. However, blinds with eyelets may not be suitable for bedroom windows.

6. Standard lined blinds. You can choose to have blinds with standard lining. These allow in some light that you may need since they are made of cotton sateen, which is very thin. These are suitable for almost all windows and doors except the bedroom.

7. Blackout lining. This is good for your bedroom. It is made of cotton that has been treated to make it lightproof. You can also use it in the living room, depending on your situation. Unlike standard lined blinds, blackout lined blinds are slightly heavier.

8. Interlined blinds. You can choose to have blinds that are interlined. These do not need to block out the light completely; they still allow in some light but are more warm and softer than single-lined blinds.

You do not need to stick to the ready-made roman blinds in the market. You have the option of giving instructions on how you want your blinds to be made. This includes the fabric you prefer, colour and size. You are also at liberty to specify the accessories to be used.
